Even world class tennis players like Naomi Osaka recognise that we all need a place to escape to and switch off. Whether it’s to get away from the pressures of life, or simply to reset and recharge, a quiet place is good for mind and soul. As she says, “life is short and it’s important to take time for yourself.”
From a physical perspective, noise pollution isn’t just annoying, it’s harmful. Consistent exposure to noise can increase the risk of heart disease, stress and sleep disturbances, whereas silence reduces feelings of anxiety. That adds even more reason to seek out a quiet space.

At Planet Surfacing we are proud to have been involved with the creation of the Secret Garden at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon. Open a large wooden door and enter a small walled, garden. A discreet area away from the hustle and bustle where visitors and players can take time to relax and unwind. To contemplate and mediate.

We installed some cobbled concrete to form a path leading from the gate to a wooden bench and beyond. The skill is often making something new look like it has always been there, and we feel like we achieved this. Check out the photographs attached and see what you think!
